The video also marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission

A new video for David Bowie was released on Saturday to commemorate the single's 50th anniversary. Additionally, the video also celebrates the Apollo 11 landing, which occurred in 1969.

“The video features previously unseen footage of Bowie performing 'Space Oddity' on his 50th birthday in 1997,” explains his official website. The music in the video is the new mix by Tony Visconti, released this year.

“Space Oddity,” the music video, premiered on Saturday, July 20, at a NASA event at the Kennedy Center. This was a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.
